Bike lane pilot installation begins

Traffic was bumper to bumper this morning. The bike lane markings have been sketched out on the north side of Bloor. Hopefully they will get in done within two weeks as the city has scheduled an official opening on Friday August 12 at 8:30 am.

From the Cycle Toronto FB page:

UPDATE: The City is now planning its official opening of the Bloor pilot on Friday Aug 12 at 830am. at Bloor & Borden. Join elected officials, local business, city staff and community members for the celebration.

SPECIAL BONUS: Want to ride there with us? Meet us at 800am at the southeast corner of Bickford Park (Harbord & Grace) and we’ll make our way to the official opening as a group! Chat with Cycle Toronto staff & volunteers about how we helped make this dream a reality.

On Wednesday, May 4th, City Council voted 38-3 to install a pilot bike lane on Bloor St W, between Shaw St. and Avenue Rd. We anticipate installation of the bike lane to be completed by Labour Day. Expect this to be a sweet 8am weekday ride.

In celebration of the new lanes, we’re planning an inaugural ride. Join this event to get updates on the date, time, and other exciting news about the inaugural ride of the bike lanes!

We couldn’t have pushed Council to make our streets safe and our city healthy without our supporters, and that includes you! Thank you for signing our pledge, donating to us, and for being a valuable member of Cycle Toronto. Stay tuned to this event page for updates on the exact date of our victory ride through the bike lanes.

We can’t wait to ride down these hard-earned bike lanes with you!

Stay tuned,

-The Cycle Toronto team
